When I was a kid, I loved going to my uncle Edgar's house. They had a huge backyard, big dogs and my favourite cousins. But the real reason I loved it was because of my uncle stories. He would tell me about Apache warriors hunting bison and fighting cowboys. He would tell me about ninjas hiding in shadows and climbing up walls. And when it was time to go home, he would give me a superhero comic book and tell him about all the adventures I'd find in there. I think all children love stories, but then we grow up, and they feel like a thing of the past, but they're not. They're still everywhere. Our favourite movies, books, and even TV ads are so great, because their stories and some of our best conversations as well. Sure, no one says once upon a time anymore. But when we hear, you won't believe what just happened to me, we stop everything and listen. And if we struggled to communicate it because we forgot how to tell stories, I think it's about time to remember.

This is the story powers podcast, the show about the power of stories that go hotel them, and why you should be doing it too. I'm your host Francisco first. I'm a keynote speaker, author and public speaking coach. Every week, I'll bring you conversations with speakers, storytellers, marketing and communication experts to understand both their story and how they use stories to get their message across connect and make a difference. There will be wisdom, that will be nonsense. But most importantly, there will be stories. I can't wait to get started. And I'd love to have you along for the ride. So until next time, when the story continues.
